USCG Neah Bay Covered Moorage
Location: Neah Bay, WA
Owner: United States Coast Guard
Contract Value: $2,800,000
Completion Date: May 2011
The Coast Guard Motor Lifeboat Station located at Neah Bay, WA is subject to severe Pacific storms and ocean swell entering the bay from the Straits of Juan de Fuca. In order to better protect its motor lifeboats from these conditions when not underway, the Coast Guard contracted with Bergerson Construction to design and construct a new covered moorage facility.
This new facility was designed to fit within the footprint of the existing concrete piers. Construction consisted of steel pipe piles, cast-in-place concrete pilecap, steel and timber weather screen, a pre-engineered metal building and associated utilities.
This award-winning project was completed on time with no contractor-initiated change orders.
